The puck has officially dropped on Shootout.

Shootout is an independent SCAD student short film centered around women's hockey, following the Atlanta Ice Dragons captain Nicole Blackwell as she faces a decision that could change both her career and her life.

After playing through an increasingly serious knee injury, Nicole reaches a breaking point following a devastating Game 7 loss. With pressure from the sport she loves and the people closest to her, she must decide whether to keep pushing through the pain or finally admit something has to change.

Written and directed by Allison Majka, Shootout combines her love for hockey with a story about identity, relationships, and the complicated culture surrounding toughness in sports.

There's a lot ahead of us—from building our cast and crew to finding ice, raising the funds needed to bring the production to life, and eventually bringing the Atlanta Ice Dragons to the screen.

This is only the beginning.

Follow along here for updates as Shootout makes its way from script to screen.
